Thanks to community donations and hardworking volunteers, HIS has had the opportunity to give free furniture items to internationals students and their families at KSU for many years. HIS receives and stores gently used furniture items throughout the year including beds, sofas, dressers, desks, chairs, bookshelves, dining tables and more. Many members of the Manhattan, KS and surrounding communities have participated in the furniture ministry by donating various furniture items on a regular basis. International students currently enrolled at Kansas State University, as well as any family members residing in their home, qualify to receive free furniture items from HIS, upon availability.

With hundreds of furniture items being given away every year, the real MVPs of this furniture ministry are the amazing team of HIS Volunteers who make it all possible! Our volunteers are the muscle behind every piece of furniture that is transported to the home of an international friend. In 2019, HIS volunteers logged more than 200 hours served. HIS hosts an annual HIS Furniture Giveaway at the start of each fall semester. This large event receives and gives 400+ furniture items to 200+ international students every year. In addition to our annual giveaway, HIS gives out furniture year-round in an effort to meet the needs of students and scholars arriving at various times throughout the academic year.
