HIS Staff

HIS Staff support the Manhattan community in serving internationals.
Matching HIS Friends, providing Bibles, coordinating events, and facilitating resources and referral are just a few way our staff supports international students and HIS partner organizations.

Terry Cole

Terry Cole

“I love what I do – and what I do is make friends and assist wherever possible.”

Terry Cole has been actively welcoming international students for many years. He and his wife, Robbin, have had numerous close friendships with internationals. They have hosted a Bible study at their home for close to a decade, served as a host family for six high school foreign exchange students, and traveled to Brazil to assist and serve alongside the church there.

Terry has a huge servant's heart and an innate ability to connect personally with others. As Director of the HIS Association, Terry is committed to making connections with pastors, facilitators, community organizations and as many of the 2,500 K-State international students as he can. He enjoys casting vision among Americans who share his true heart for welcoming internationals.

In his free time, Terry enjoys spending time with Robbin, his wife of 25 years, and his three sons, daughter, and two grandkids. A jack-of-all-trades, Terry can be found doing everything from cleaning swimming pools to fixing his son’s car to taking food to a widow from church.

Janessa Warner

Originally from South Mississippi, Janessa never thought she would be living in Manhattan, Kansas, but she's so glad she is! Since connecting with HIS in 2018, Janessa has been able to meet so many people in the local international community and many have become some of her dearest friends. In July of 2021, Janessa joined HIS staff as an intern and began learning even more about what HIS offers, how to plan and facilitate events, and put her Intercultural Studies degree into practice. She loves being able to connect with others from around the world, hear their stories, share in their traditions, and especially to learn to cook (and eat!) their favorite dishes.

Janessa spends most of her free time connecting with friends and taking them on adventures together. She loves days spent at the lake, sightseeing in and out of town, hiking, paddleboarding, and catching up with others in the local coffee shops!
